MSC Announces PSS for USA West Coast Effective 1st July 2025

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective from 1st July 2025 for shipments from India to the USA West Coast. The announced surcharge rates are:

  • USD 3600 per 20’DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

  • USD 4000 per 40’DV/HC & 45’, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

The PSS will be applicable to all containers handed over to MSC custody from 1st July 2025.

MSC Announces PSS for Canada West Coast Effective 1st July 2025

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) effective from 1st July 2025 for shipments from India to Canada West Coast. The applicable rates are:

  • USD 3600 per 20’DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

  • USD 4000 per 40’DV/HC & 45’, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

This PSS will apply to all containers handed over to MSC custody on or after 1st July 2025.

MSC Implements Additional GRI for East Coast, Gulf Coast & Puerto Rico from 1st July 2025

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective 1st July 2025 for shipments from India to the USA East Coast, Gulf Coast, San Juan, and Puerto Rico. The updated rates are:

  • USD 1500 per 20’DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

  • USD 1500 per 40’DV/HC & 45’, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

This is an additional GRI on top of the previously implemented 15th June 2025 GRI.
The new rates apply to all containers handed over to MSC custody from 1st July 2025.

MSC Announces Additional GRI Effective 1st July 2025

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective from 1st July 2025 for shipments from India to the USA West Coast. The new rates are:

  • USD 1800 per 20’DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

  • USD 2000 per 40’DV/HC & 45’, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

This GRI is in addition to the earlier GRI that was effective from 15th June 2025.
It applies to all containers handed over to MSC custody from 1st July 2025.

MSC Introduces Peak Season Surcharge on Shipments from India to Canada East Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, and Central America Effective June 2, 2025

In light of anticipated seasonal demand, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on cargo moving from India to the Canada East Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, and Central America trade lanes. The surcharge will take effect starting the handover date of June 2, 2025.

As per a customer advisory released by MSC Agency (India) Private Limited, this measure is aimed at maintaining service efficiency and managing increased operational requirements during the peak shipping period.

Surcharge Details:

  • USD 1500 per 20’ DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

  • USD 1500 per 40’ DV/HC, 45’ SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

The PSS will be applicable to all containers handed over to MSC’s custody from June 2, 2025 onwards.

MSC Announces General Rate Increase for India to Canada East Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, and Central America Effective June 2, 2025

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has issued a fresh General Rate Increase (GRI) advisory impacting shipments from India to several key markets, including the Canada East Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, and Central America. The new rates will take effect starting the handover date of June 2, 2025.

In its latest customer advisory, MSC Agency (India) Private Limited stated the rate increase is essential to sustain the reliability and quality of its global shipping services.

New Freight Rate Structure:

  • USD 1500 per 20’ DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

  • USD 1500 per 40’ DV/HC, 45’ SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

These revised charges will apply to all containers handed over to MSC custody beginning June 2, 2025.

MSC Postpones General Rate Increase for India–Canada West Coast Route to June 1, 2025

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a postponement of its previously scheduled General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the Canada West Coast. Initially set for May 15, 2025, the effective date has now been pushed to June 1, 2025.

In a recent client advisory circulated by MSC Agency (India) Private Limited, the carrier confirmed its intention to implement the GRI on the rescheduled date to continue delivering reliable and efficient services.

GRI Freight Rate Details:

  • USD 1800 per 20’ DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

  • USD 2000 per 40’ DV/HC, 45’ SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

The rates will now apply to all containers handed over to MSC custody starting from June 1, 2025.

MSC Announces General Rate Increase for India–USA West Coast Route Effective June 15, 2025

Leading global shipping line Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has officially announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for all container shipments moving from India to the USA West Coast, effective from the handover date of June 15, 2025.

This adjustment, detailed in a client advisory from MSC Agency (India) Private Limited, is aimed at sustaining the carrier’s reliable, efficient services in response to operational and market demands.

Revised Freight Charges:

  • USD 1800 per 20’ DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

In a continued effort to uphold service reliability and operational efficiency, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) on shipments from India to the USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective from June 15, 2025 handover date.

According to a client advisory issued by MSC Agency (India) Private Limited, this adjustment aims to support MSC’s commitment to high service standards amid dynamic market conditions.

New Freight Rates:

  • USD 1500 per 20’ DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

  • USD 1500 per 40’ DV/HC, 45’ SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack container

This latest increase will be an addition to the previous GRI effective from June 1, 2025.

Key Implementation Note:

The updated rates will be enforced on all containers handed over to MSC custody from June 15, 2025 onwards.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), one of the world’s largest container shipping lines, has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) on cargo moving from India to the Canada West Coast, effective from June 15, 2025 handover date.

In a formal client advisory issued by MSC Agency (India) Private Limited, the company cited the need to maintain high service standards and operational reliability as the reason for the adjustment.

The new charges will be:

  • USD 1800 per 20’ container (all types)

  • USD 2000 per 40’/45’ container (all types)

Note: This is an additional GRI on top of the 1st June 2025 handover GRI.

The revised charges will be:

  • USD 1800 per 20’ container (all types)

Note: This is an additional GRI on top of the 1st June 2025 handover GRI.

Shipping Update: MSC Postpones General Rate Increase to 20th May 2025

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a revision to its planned General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Originally set for 15th May 2025, the GRI handover date has now been postponed to 20th May 2025.

The rate increase remains at:

  • USD 1500 per 20’ container (all types)

  • USD 1500 per 40’/45’ container (all types)

This adjustment ensures smoother operational alignment and continued service reliability for customers.

Ocean Network Express Announces General Rate Increase for Asia to Latin American East Coast Shipments

Singapore, May 7, 2025 — Ocean Network Express (ONE), one of the world’s leading container shipping companies, has officially announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for cargo moving from Asia to the Latin American East Coast (LEW), set to take effect from May 15, 2025.

According to the advisory issued by ONE's Marketing & Commercial division for Africa and Latin America, the rate adjustment will apply to all types of cargo transported from North Asia, South Asia, and the Indian Sub-Continent to the Latin American East Coast.

Details of the Rate Increase:
Trade Lane: Asia to Latin American East Coast (LEW)

GRI Quantum:

  • USD 500 per 20’ container
  • USD 500 per 40’ container
  • USD 500 per 40’ High Cube (HC)
  • USD 500 per 40’ Non-Operating Reefer (NOR)

Effective Date: May 15, 2025 (Bill of Lading date basis)

General Rate Increase Announced for Red Sea Shipments Amid Port Congestion

Goodrich Logistics Private Limited has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to several key ports in the Red Sea region. The rate hike comes in response to severe congestion and berthing delays at Red Sea ports, which have escalated operational costs for vessel operators.

According to the advisory issued by the logistics company, the GRI will be effective for all cargo sailings after April 15, 2025. The new rates will apply to all container types and cargo categories.

The affected routes include shipments from Nhava Sheva and Mundra ports in India to the following destinations:

  • Jeddah
  • Port Sudan
  • Aqaba
  • Aden
  • Hodeidah
  • Mombasa
  • Dar es Salaam
  • Berbera
  • Djibouti
  • Sokhna
  • Mukalla

The announced increase is USD 600 per TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit).


 

China to Indian Subcontinent GRI Notice

Freight Rate Increase Announced

Clipper International Shipping Agency Ltd. and Wan Hai Lines Ltd. have announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from China to India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

  • Rate Increment: $300/$600/$600 (20’/40’/40’HC)
  • Effective Date: From Week 11 (March 9–15, 2025)
  • Reason: Rising costs due to weather conditions, bunker prices, and port congestion.


 

MSC Cancels January 6, 2025 General Rate Increase

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced the cancellation of the General Rate Increase (GRI) initially scheduled for January 6, 2025, for shipments from India to Canada West Coast. The proposed charges were USD 800 for 20' containers and USD 1000 for 40' containers. 

MSC Imposes General Rate Increase for India to Canada West Coast

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective February 1, 2025, for shipments from India to Canada West Coast. The new charges are USD 1800 for 20' containers and USD 2000 for 40' containers, covering various container types, including Reefer, Open Top, and Flat Rack. This adjustment is in addition to the January 15, 2025, GRI.

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the USA West Coast, effective from 15th January 2025. The revised rates will include:

  • USD 1000 per 40' container (DV/HC, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack)

This adjustment is in addition to the 06th January 2025 handover GRI and applies to all containers handed over to MSC by the specified date.

Effective from 5th October 2024, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will implement a General Rate Increase for shipments from India to the USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Mumbai, India, 10th July 2024 – MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective 8th August 2024. The rate adjustments are as follows:

  • USD 1500 per 20'DV, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack
  • USD 1500 per 40'DV/HC, SOC, SOT, Reefer, Open Top & Flat Rack

This GRI is in addition to the previous GRIs effective from 20th July 2024 and 29th July 2024 handovers. The new rates will apply to all containers handed over to MSC custody from 8th August 2024 onwards.

 

MSC Announces General Rate Increase for India to Middle East Trade

Geneva, Switzerland, 1st July 2024 – Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the Middle East, effective from 16th July 2024. The rate adjustments are as follows:

  • Ad Dammam / Jubail: USD 250 / Unit
  • Umm Qasr: USD 250 / Unit
  • Shuwaikh / Shuaiba: USD 150 / Unit
  • Sohar / Salalah: USD 150 / Unit
  • Jebel Ali / Abu Dhabi / Sharjah / Ras Al Khaimah: USD 150 / Unit
  • Hamad: USD 150 / Unit
  • Bahrain: USD 150 / Unit

The rate increases apply to all equipment types. For other port pairs, commodities, and container types not listed, customers are advised to contact their local MSC agent for specific pricing information.

MSC Implements General Rate Increase from India to North Africa and South America

Starting July 1, 2024, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will introduce a General Rate Increase (GRI) to cover additional costs due to port congestion, delayed schedules, and equipment shortages. The new rates are:

  • North Africa: $400 per container

Maersk Adjusts Peak Season Surcharge for Select Routes

Maersk has announced revisions to its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for several routes effective from July 8, 2024. The surcharge, applicable to shipments from the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to the US and Canadian West Coast, will see an increase of $7000 for all dry and reefer containers.

The adjustment aims to sustain global services amid evolving market dynamics. Customers are advised to take note of these changes, which may be subject to future adjustments. Maersk assures customers of continued support and transparency in pricing structures.

MSC Announces General Rate Increase for India-South America Routes

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from India to the South America East Coast and West Coast. This rate adjustment, set at USD 750 per container, is in response to the increased costs due to port congestion, delayed vessel schedules, and equipment shortages.

Effective Date: 12th June 2024

Notice to Trade: Rate Restoration Increase (RRI) Effective June 1, 2024

Due to falling freight and slot rates, VOA will implement a Rate Restoration Increase (RRI) to sustain long-term service. Effective June 1, 2024, the revised rates from Mundra, Kandla, Hazira, and Nhava Sheva to the UAE, Qatar, and Upper Gulf are as follows:

  1. Khalifa: $100 per TEU
  2. Jebel Ali: $100 per TEU
  3. Umm Qasr: $150 per TEU
  4. Hamad: $150 per TEU
  5. Dammam: $150 per TEU

Note: 

  • Above GRI will be applicable to Thru BL Ports as well.
  • Empty rates and Imco/Reefer surcharges remain as current.
  • OOG s/c chargeable at 100% of slots utilized.
  • Through cargoes via Khalifa and FICY rates will also attract the same GRI quantum.
  • This RR quantum will be added to your existing rates on the listed sectors.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announces a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective from February 12, 2024, for shipments from India to USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The GRI amounts to USD 1000 per 20'DV, SOC, SOT, Open Top & Flat Rack, and USD 1000 per 40'DV/HC, SOC, SOT, Open Top & Flat Rack. This increase is in addition to the GRIs on January 22, 2024, and January 29, 2024. Applicable to all containers handed over to MSC custody from February 12, 2024.

MSC Implements Additional General Rate Increase (GRI) for India to USA Routes

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announces a General Rate Increase (GRI) effective from 4th March 2024 handover, Ex India to USA East Coast, USA Gulf Coast, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The quantum includes USD 1000 per 20'DV, SOC, SOT, Open Top & Flat Rack, and USD 1000 per 40'DV/HC, SOC, SOT, Open Top & Flat Rack. This additional GRI follows the one implemented on 12th February 2024.

Maersk Announces Rate Increase for Pakistan, Middle East & Indian Sub-Continent to North America

Maersk issues a Customer Advisory notifying a Rate Increase effective from February 10, 2024, for shipments from Pakistan, Middle East & Indian Sub-Continent to North America (United States & Canada). The increase applies to all cargo types and various container sizes, with amounts as follows: USD 1000 for 20DRY, USD 1500 for 40DRY and 40HC, and USD 1500 for 45HC. 

MSC Introduces Contingency Adjustment Charge for India Routes

MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) announces the implementation of a Contingency Adjustment Charge (CAC) effective from December 27, applicable to all shipments (Dry and Reefers) from India to East Africa, South Africa, IOS, Mozambique, Somalia (Mogadishu), Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and New Caledonia. The CAC amounts to USD 500 per TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit). Customers with queries are advised to contact their respective Sales Support Executive. MSC assures customers of the same reliable and efficient service.

MSC Implements Peak Season Surcharge for Middle East to Mombasa Route

MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) announces the application of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) due to robust demand in the Middle East and IPAK region for the Kenyan market. Effective from January 15, 2024, the PSS amounts to USD 500 per container for both dry and reefer cargoes from the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh to Mombasa. Customers with inquiries are encouraged to contact local MSC representatives across their global network of over 675 offices.

MSC Announces General Rate Increase for India to USA West Coast
