Container service charge (transit costs for containers in Europe)

A Container Service Charge (CSC) or Terminal Handling Charge (THC) is an additional fee charged by a shipping company for handling containers at a container terminal before being loaded on board a vessel.

For example, the container may be unloaded from a truck, stacked and transported from the stacking location to just below the crane. This pertains to FCL (Full Container Load) shipments.
