Terminal handling charge (Handling Costs for the container)
Charges collected by Terminal authorities at each Port for loading and unloading containers are called Terminal Handling Charges (THC). The handling cost varies from country to country since the total cost of terminal handling at each Port is different in each location.
Transport carriers normally collect Terminal Handling Charges (THC) from Shippers upon releasing the Bill of Lading after Customs clearance for exports is complete. When carriers issue Delivery Orders to consignees before taking delivery of goods, they collect Import Terminal Handling Charges.
